I wanted to write something. I've always wanted to write something, but it's difficult for that something to matter. It will matter to me, obviously, but I do hope to reach at least some of you.
Things that matter...
Part of the beauty of everyone being different is that everyone has a million of different priorities. Some find money is at the top. The romantics like me will think of love when they first read this. The optimists will think of happiness and the philosophers of meaning.
Everyone, very logically, thinks that what matters to them is what should matter to everyone, what is really important. Because, at the end of the day, we just want to matter to someone. We want other people to see the world from our point of view. Even if its just one person. Maybe I'm lying, maybe you're thinking that I don't know what I'm talking about. But something tells me, deep inside, that I'm not.
That is why, after a lot of thinking on the subject of my first publication (of which I am extremely excited), trying to find a global theme that will mean something to many, I realised that everyone feels the need to be accepted.
But, why is it so important to us to feel accepted in society? Why does that make us do things that we wouldn't otherwise? Are we really so afraid of ending up alone? Of being a social paraia? But isn't it obvious that everyone is different and that none of us fit in perfectly?
I am only one more. That is why, I hope this first post stirred something inside of you and makes you come back. I, too, want to matter.
Thank you,
Kipa
